Born in the rain forested region of the Western Ghats of India, conversations about elephants, tigers, cobras and other exotic species were common place in our home. Two tiger skins in the living room of my uncle, who was a Chief Conservator of Forests around 1950 was a constant reminder of the rich diversity and natural history of my birthplace.

In addition, my dad was a well known entomologist and ecologist who inadvertently exposed me to the joys of the Life Sciences. I have fueled this passion for nature by traveling and photographing in most of the major rain forests, savannah, mountain, polar and riparian systems on seven continents over the past three decades: Amazon, Congo, Papua New Guinea,  Borneo, Antarctica, South Georgia,  Zambesi and the Great Rift valley regions, to name a few.

During the past decade, I have been associated with many wildlife photographers, whose work I have been influenced by tremendously. My sample portfolio perhaps displays my improving skills in wildlife photography.
